Found this at Always on Watch. I post it here because whenever something is said about the dangers of the burqa is mentioned, well, OBVIOUSLY it's about hating Muslims and their religion and has nothing to do with SAFETY. I mean, what else could it be (seriously...do I need to answer that...). Some of you may remember my anger at having to remove my cowboy hat and boots to pass airport security, while a woman (I guess it was a woman, all you could see were the eyes), didn't remove anything but her shoes, and was still allowed to pass. I figure that any machine that would clear whatever she could be hiding under her burqa should be able to clear whatever I had under my hat. But I'm sure I'm STILL overreacting considering the large number of people in this world who don cowboy wear and then strap b*mbs to themselves and fly planes into buildings...cut heads off people in video...blow up their own children...
But I digress...
Many have stated for quite some time that allowing women to have their ID's taken WITH THEIR BURQA COVERING THEIR FACE is just plain STUPID and defeats the purpose of an ID to begin with. Some will argue that women in burqa's shouldn't have to remove her head gear (niqab) to enter a bank, even though I had to remove my sunglasses while wearing a short light summer dress, wearing heals and carrying a small pink purse with my hair down. Well, I'm just wondering what will be said now that a MUSLIM store owner is refusing entry to anyone with a niqab.
Muslim-owned shop bans customers wearing veils
A Muslim-owned jewellery shop has decided to ban customers wearing veils after being targeted by robbers disguised as Islamic women.
Everyone entering ATAA Jewellers in Glasgow must reveal their faces under planned new rules to protect staff from further attacks.
The store owners decided to act after two Asian men wearing traditional Muslim women's clothes – including niqab veils – made away with thousands of pounds worth of jewellery earlier this month.
Now the Sadiq family who run the shop are planning to put up a sign informing customers that they cannot wear any headgear that covers the face.
Any Muslim women who are more comfortable in a niqab will be encouraged to telephone in advance to ensure that a female member of staff is present during their visit, to confirm their identities.
"It is our safety that matters as well at the end of the day," Rukhsana Sadiq told the BBC Asian Network. "God forbid anything like this happening to anyone else."
The family said they accepted the policy may offend some Muslims, but expect other businesses to take a similar approach. Criminals wearing Islamic veils have carried out at least one other robbery in the city.
Local councillor Hanzala Malik backed the plan. "I know in Scotland that banks will not allow their customers coming in with motorbike helmets, I don't see why it should be different for people wearing the Niqab. It is an issue about identifying people," he said.
Now, think there'll be a huge protest...?

The strange part about the Niqab is that even Muslim scholars can't agree on it's justification. Some can't even show proof in the Quran or the Hadith's of it's mention.
There is no justification in western Culture for the Niqab. To put it bluntly: Muslim men need to either go home, or propel themselves quickly into the 21st century.

As for Muslim men moving into the 21st century, yeah, right. I agree with you, but that will never happen. Some Muslim men that I knew in Florida were 21st century, but the lot causing trouble are male chauvinist PIGS who enjoy treating women like chattle. It's part of their religious beliefs. They'll never change.
And to be fair, Krystal, if we are to go on to the subject of oppression of women, many central americans are just as guilty.
We had an acquaintance from Columbia and didn't know that he had a spouse until he went out of town and asked us to help her with medical appointments and groceries because she never left the house, nor was she able to drive or speak English.
However, Muslim men have an even more backwards view when it comes to women. The niqab and burqua are just the tip of the iceberg. Honor killings and female circumcision rate up there, as well.
pitbull, I completely get what you just said. Having lived in S. Florida, well, I came in contact with some of those men. While I'm with you 100% on female circumcision, I'm yet to understand why this country has such a double standard saying female circ is mutilation, but circing our infant boys is perfectly okay. I think it's barbaric either way.
