Anyone else ever take the time to figure out the percentage of the population that is considered a sampling for the presidential polls? Most polls are between 600-700 people. There are roughly 150,000,000 people in the U.S. So doing the math, those polls are based upon LESS THAN .0005% of the American people (750). How in the world can they come up with a +/- 4 points on such a measly sampling?
Let's apply this to, say, our drinking water supply. They test .0005% of fresh water supplies and find contaminants high enough to declare them toxic. Would that REALLY be representative of the fresh water supply in the ENTIRE FREAKING COUNTRY?!?!
Seriously...SERIOUSLY!!

This is one of my pet peeves, too. Plus, if the margin of error is greater than 2.5-3%, it's an invalid poll. We should run the country, Krystal, we really should. We would balance each other (afterall, you are So Liberal and I'm such a Staunch Conservative!) and we'd Be Sane. Krystal for President and Pobble for Vice President. Or, hell, I'll your Chief of Staff. I'm better behind the scenes, anyway.
As of right now...the U.S. population is 305,539,931 so your question on accurate polls has even more merit IMO.
Polls are just a way to create news when they don't want to take the time to do cover the real stories anyway.
Polls... Not even good enough for TP, IMO.
