Friday Fragments

This Friday Fragments was written the Friday morning after our ice storm. We had no electricity, no running water, and it was cold. I was trying to focus on the good. Each thought came to me as I was doing things, trying to clean up and make the best of it. Each thought was it's own "fragment".

Friday Fragments?

I am thankful for cast iron skillets that can sit directly on hot coals and be cleaned with a paper towel.

I am thankful for friends that care.

I am thankful for a propane fireplace.

I am thankful for my house and car not sustaining any damages.

I am thankful for Rubbermade storage containers that protect food from critters while sitting out on the back porch keeping our food cold.

I am thankful for a church family that pulls together and my minister who cut me out of my driveway.

I am thankful for spaghettio's and bologna that make a great lunch and can be eaten cold.

I am thankful for clean underwear.

I am thankful for germs you can share with your family when you can't wash dishes.

I am thankful for the amazing ice cycles that are covering the trees and making my part of the world look like a winter wonderland.

I am thankful for the tinkling sound of the ice as it falls to the ground.

I am thankful for peanut butter sandwiches that we could live off of.

I am thankful for Yahtzee and Monopoly.

I am thankful for snow that melts and can be used to flush toilets.

I am thankful for having four boys that can go outside.

I am thankful for the fresh scent of pine that has filled the air from the breaking of the trees.

I am thankful for beauty in decimation.

I am thankful for blankets and warm socks.

I am thankful for the sun that finally showed this morning that warmed my face and made me laugh and let me cry.

I am most thankful for my God who continually goes before me, prepares my way and guides my step even now. There is nowhere I can go that He hasn't aready been.

Peace Out,

I love that you are able to be thankful for the things that so many people could only bitch about.

Great post, always looking on the bright side!

Pine needles and cones make excellent kindling as well as smelling good, too...

I dunno about cold Spaghetti-O's, but bologna is great in a pinch! :)

It's great that your pastor pulled it together to help you and others out. KUDOS!!!

And I'm thankful you all made it out OK.

Wonderful. I love it when the power goes out and everything goes quiet in the house. LOVE it. Glad you got yours back, though :)

I would be thankful for all the free firewood! lol

There really are silver linings in every cloud for those that will just look for them. It seems like you do. Glad that things are looking up for you.

Pobble, I've done my bitching too. BUT I choose to do as little as possible. :)

Rev, thanks for stopping by! I've not had a chance to spend too much time at your blog as I have limited computer time at the moment (can't wait to get HOME!). I did read your most recent post though. :)

Brooke, we have so much "kindling" around the house now that it's dangerous. We had just finished spending a couple WEEKS raking and burning. This is going to take some serious work.

Mrs4444, I don't mind a few hours without electric, but when you have to haul water to flush toilets for a few weeks and can see your breath freezing in your kitchen and living room, it's just not fun anymore. ;)

Avg American, White Boy will be splitting wood for MONTHS!!! I told him anything he split above and beyond what we need, he could sell. He REALLY wants a pick-up truck...

You have such a beautiful attitude!
I'm encouraged.
Dang. I wish I could send you one of those stupid ugly blankets they're selling on the infomercials. The ones with arm holes?
You'd look awesome in it. ;-)
Keep laughing, even through the tears.
