$100 a Barrel Gas Tax

Batman gave a link to this article suggesting a $100 a barrel tax on

This is my response.

While I'm sure that smaller families and single persons who live in the city might be able to deal with a gas tax as asinine as $100 a barrel (our founding fathers must be rolling over in their graves as such an horrendous suggestion), this suggestion obviously has ZERO consideration for the "Bread Basket" area of our country and larger families.

We're farmers with five children. So let me pose the following problems with giving an entire five minutes of consideration to a 100% fuel tax.

* Are we to strap our children to the hood of a fuel-efficient compact vehicle?

* Is the government going to provide us said fuel-efficient vehicle? There is NO WAY we could handle a car payment right not, we're trying to prevent having our HOME FORCLOSED ON so our children don't have to LIVE ON THE STREET.

* Since there is no public transportation, am I to ride my bicycle into town to grocery shop? Or should I ride our workhorse into town and hope the plastic bags they pack my food in don't rip on our trot home?

* Since we have a special needs child, am I to pull him from his services since I won't be able to afford the gas to drive him back and forth from school? I'll just home school him I guess. I mean, truly, he should be deprived from extra help from a professional anyway…right? We'll also stop those four hour round trips to his specialists. I mean, he's sick and all, but that's of no consequence to people who propose such ludicrous taxes anyway.

* Have any of you even considered what hiking the price of gas will do to the price of food? Apparently not.

* Will you be providing us with food stamps to make up for the increase in my gas taxes? I have a hard budget of $125 a WEEK to feed seven people. When our gas taxes were higher, my grocery budget went down. We live on a farm, but unfortunately WE don't have a money tree growing on our property. I guess we can go back to living on Ramen Noodles and beans and rice and what we grow and raise on our own. It's not like growing children need milk anyway…right? Or maybe we should buy a dairy cow and milk it ourselves twice a day every day without fail (they are prone to infections and can die if you miss a milking).

In other words, this has got to be one of THE biggest displays of big city liberal thinking I have ever seen. And it proves how rarely some people think things through before "opening their mouths".

Peace Out,

Batman, and you know how to do it too.

Brooke, just go after the liberals and "moderates" and we'll be just fine.

Mrs4444, no, not plain crazy, plain liberal.
