The Egg

So I go out to the coops to collect eggs. The first coop is easy. I built it and it had a door in the back to open and collect the eggs from. The second coop I have to go inside. I go the second coop and there is one egg. I pull the door. It's frozen shut. I pull and pull. It doesn't budge. I cut my knuckle.

I go to the basement and get the ax. Rambo is now running scared. I use the back of the ax to hit the door frame. The door moves! Yippie! I'm home free!

Until it stops at about two-three inches. The chicken's water bowl is in the way. I reach in with my hand (I cut my hand on the wire again) holding the ax and try to knock it out of the way. It's frozen to the ground. I try pulling the door open. Too much ice.

So I go back to the basement to return the ax (Rambo is thrilled). I slip on ice and almost fall on the ax (now I understand how Rambo feels). I get two large bottles and fill them with water so hot that it's hurting my hands to carry them. I pour it all over the door frame to melt the ice.

I keep pulling. I cut myself again (but by this time my fingers a numb anyway so it didn't hurt). FINALLY the door opens and I can go in and collect the ONE egg in there.

What's so special about this egg that I would go through all of that to collect it? You tell me.

Green Eggs and Ham, anyone? It's one of my favorite books!

I *will* eat them in a house! I *will* eat them with a mouse! YAY for green eggs. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what was so damn important about That One Egg. Thanks for the answer.

And you're tagged over at mine. ;) (February 12 in case I post again before you get there)

Um...What's with the picture?

The Commonwealth of Kentucky seal is not really doing it for me.

Pobble, I saw that, I plan on answering tomorrow. :) I have the book Green Eggs and Ham memorized. I can also recite The Cat in the Hat.

Batman, I love my green eggs! YUM!! I get about three a week.

Crowder, I'm taking some Kentucky pride, man! There's much more to me than just a half-nekkid-bombshell-mother-of-five you know!

TF63, thanks for the heads-up!

Tink, The green egg comes from a breed of chickens called "Americanas". I have three hens of that breed. One lays brown (boring!! just like all my other hens), one lays a pinkish brown (a bit cooler), and one lays green (YIPPIE!). I've order five more pullets and a couple of cockerels so I can breed them. I've also ordered a couple ducklings.
